About the project

The goal of the project is to obtain accreditation for non-technical survey (NTS) and conduct sessions on informing about
the risks of UXO (EORE), which will enable our organization to quickly identify dangerous areas and carry out preventive work among the local population. Trained mine action operators working directly with
communities are critical to achieving large-scale coverage of rural areas and saving lives through preventive education.

  • As of 2025, Ukraine remains one of the most contaminated countries in the world with explosive remnants of war. According to the National Mine Action Authority, more than 156,000 km² of territory needs to be surveyed, and according to official IMSMA data, more than 950 civilians have been affected by explosive remnants of war, of whom more than 290 have died. In the Kharkiv region, which is among the most contaminated, new cases of civilian casualties are constantly being reported.

  • The project includes the following activities:
-Obtaining non-technical survey (NTS) certification for at least six specialists from the Green Landia NGO, who will complete a full training course in accordance with IMAS standards in cooperation with authorized DRB specialists, with subsequent entry into the register of accredited mine action operators.
-Conducting mine safety sessions by two teams with developed handouts in the communities of the Kharkiv region specified in the project.

  • Project results as of February 14, 2025:
-62 sessions were held to inform about EOR risks, with 722 people informed.
-6 specialists from the Green Landia NGO are undergoing training in non-technical surveys.
