About the project

Title: "Assistance in the field of reproductive health and protection of IDPs affected by the crisis and host communities in Eastern Ukraine"
Organizer: NGO "Green-Landiya"

Partners: CARE

Implementation period: July 2023 - June 2024

Geography: Eastern Ukraine, including 9 hromadas (Pechenizka, Tsyrkunivska, Dergachivska, Rohanska, Chuhuivska, Novopokrovska, Bezlyudivska, Valkivska, and Lyubotynska).

  • Importance of the project

    ● Addressing urgent problems: The project aims to address the urgent needs of IDPs and local residents of host hromadas affected by the war.

    ● Integrated approach: Combining psychological, social and medical assistance.

    ● Supporting vulnerable groups. Special attention is paid to women and girls and vulnerable groups of the population.

  • Objectives

    ● Providing psychological assistance: individual and group consultations for women of all ages on the topics: “Prevention and overcoming stress”, “Restoration of one’s own resources”, “Psychological support for children and adolescents during war”, “Prevention and overcoming professional burnout and stressful conditions”, etc.

    ● Social support: consultations of a social protection specialist for vulnerable categories of the population - social assistance, preparation of a list of documents for receiving social benefits and subsequent application to the relevant social authorities. The ability to make high-quality copies of any documents or print certain documents, letters or requests. To issue letters-requests to local government bodies, to receive advice on using the DIYA application. To prepare a list of documents for registration of social status, renewal of documents on property rights. To receive advice and assistance on any social issues.

    ● Medical care: a program was implemented for women and girls - support and preservation of reproductive health in the hromadas of Kharkiv oblast. Our clients used the following services of the program: initial examination and consultation of an obstetrician-gynecologist; ultrasound of the pelvic organs; testing for sexually transmitted infections; colposcopy; testing for markers of cervical diseases; consultations on safe contraception; prescribing treatment based on the results of tests. Transportation of women to the clinic and back to the hromada was carried out free of charge as part of the “Social Taxi” project service.

    ● Educational activities, lectures on GBV, psychological and physical women's health were held. Our team's voice is female, so we paid special attention to educational work in hromadas among women - we held info sessions on the topics of women's psychological, physical, reproductive health, and GBV. It is very important for us to support and educate women and girls. We tried to open up a new world of opportunities for them, but first of all to teach them to take care of themselves and their health.

    ● Logistical support: it is especially worth emphasizing the invaluable help of the “Social Taxi” for transporting people with limited mobility, the elderly, those who are left alone and do not have the physical strength to get to the bus stop. We did everything possible so that these people could receive the necessary assistance in a dignified manner on time and without unnecessary difficulties.

    ● Humanitarian assistance: distribution of hygiene kits.
